¬ Sponge Gourd
|
| Ridge Gourd belongs to the Cucurbit
family like cucumber. It is a good source of carbohydrates,
vitamin A, vitamin C and minerals. They are vine plants,
with smooth, sharply angled 5-lobed leaves. Fruits vary in
size, and colour varies with different shades of green.
Ridge gourd grows well in hot and humid climate in a
variety of soils.

Sponge
gourd
Sponge gourds thrive well in sunny locations in
well-drained soil base. Also known as Luffa, this is a
vine plant that can climb up to 15 feet which grows fast in
warm climate. The fruit is edible only when it is immature. The
matured fruit forms sponge-like fibers inside. The dried matured
fruits are often used as scrubbers, cleaning pads or bath
sponges and recently they have found use in a variety of
applications.
